Make Money Running Software
The Gomez PEER Community is a network of Internet users who have "sold" a small amount of their computer's processing power. By installing the PEER software, Gomez is able to use this power to test the performance of websites, creating a more accurate picture of web performance. Here's how it works:
First, the user needs to apply at the Gomez Peer Community website. Gomez is looking for computers from all over the world, with varying Internet connection speeds, from dial-up to T1 lines. They are limited in the number of users that they need, so applying does not automatically guarantee your approval. If you do apply, the next step is to install the Gomez PEER software. The Gomez PEER is a java-based application that uses peer-to-peer technology to combine the spare capacity of PCs to surf the web, testing the performance of Gomez's clients' websites. The software tests the performance of websites from various places in the world and various Internet connection speeds. It runs on the background of your PC, and can even be hidden, meaning you may forget it's there. Gomez claims that the software is secure, only uses memory that isn't being used, and that it will supposedly not affect your computer's performance.
If your application is approved, Gomez will notify you by email within 14 days. The Gomez PEER Community software will need to be running in order for Gomez to approve and activate your account, which, yes, means you will need to be running software for up to 14 days without getting paid. The more you run the software, however, the better your chance of being approved.
Sounds like a good idea, right? Well, let's talk money before you go installing software that may or may not affect your processing speeds. The Gomez PEER Community has three ways of paying its members. Peers who are approved for Online Time Payments will receive $0.05 for every day that online time exceeds two hours. For users who are approved for Processing Time Payments, $0.0005 per minute (or 3 cents per hour) will be awarded to users who are online for a minimum of four hours a day. Users can also make money through referrals.
Bottom line – if you're bored or simply want to sign up for every possible get-paid-to operation on the Internet, hoping that collectively, they'll make a dent in your account, then the Gomez PEER Community might be worth a try. If you're looking for ways to pay off your new sports car, well... keep looking.
